Weather wasn't conducive to anything but glow golf amidst last-min exchngs for school clothes @ SuperMall (even then missed out on his sz of sale khakis @ GAP outlet & was even gonna spring for camo slip-ons for Dane but no luck with his sz either @ Gymboree, so kinda wasted trip-ugh!) Anyway that's how we spent last official day o' summer instead of @ some glorious pool. Even though Cole has assured me he knows everything mighty 1st graders do during the day, I then made him go to the open house with me on eve of 1st day of school:)
He brought his school supplies then had to go through checklist @ his desk, which incl trying it out for comfort (decided would need to be lowered), finding his cubby, determining show & tell day, lunch opt & transportation...Also discovering he already knows @ least 5 of the kids in his class! And of course, meeting Mrs Engle:)
Smelled the popcorn from afar & had to partake while we went to find where he lines up from bus on the playground-
His dad came over that night to give him a haircut & beautiful blessing--hopefully that will deter him from dropping out?! He was so excited to eat lunch @ school & have an extra recess, but not so thrilled to wake up earlier...Besides getting special treats in his lunchbox, he had breakfast of champions=doughnut & choc milk (i'm sure his teacher was grateful i revved him up with sugar to start the day:) Bus comes 15 min earlier than last year, so wish us luck!! 
Don't worry if both bros were up & wanting to join me on walk to end o' st they could see him off officially...Yes, rest of us were all still in our jammies!!
Still smiling @ end o' day but helped to have pizza & pencil cake by his friend's creative mom not to mention co of good friends that night!
I'm gonna break him in easy (or maybe more for mom's benefit?!:) though 'cuz already letting him stay home tomorrow to bond with friends from outta town, then again for start o' fair parade & rodeo next Fri--can't complain about that right? If weather coop but not likely (farewell summer weather?! guess that's supposed to make it easier for us to adjust eh?), tempted to keep him out & fly south to cabin early this weekend as well:)

Thanks for spending so much time with Connor. I overheard him telling all his friends at school today how much fun he had with his two C(K)ole buddies. Thank you for being a good friend!
i knew it wasn't more than 1.5 miles each way...so 1.3 sounds about right. we ran like 6 the day you had us run loops down by the beach, though. :) can't wait to hear how your half goes. my tri is sept 26 and i have a half oct 18th...and maybe the vegas half with rach in december.
