Skookum

On the way to the cabin, we always pass the Skookumchuck River and I usually say it to myself a couple times 'cuz it's such a fun name...So of course we were interested in trying out the Skookum Archery right here in Puyallup-My friend Candice (one who actually completed the Tulip Pedal:) is a member and invited us for fun night o' shooting & roasting (hot dogs for the boys & s'mores for me!) Never mind that she just had a scope done on her knee the previous am?! She's amazing & knew it would be the perfect combo for my little boys' entertainment on a warm Sat evening! Yes, the camo shorts have gotten a lot o' play in our limited sunshine & seemed appropo for the "Robin Hood" place as it was deemed by them:)

Luke didn't understand that you needed to look in dir of target?!
Even Cait gave it a go!

Game over...

As I mentioned in previous post, t'was Cole's first season to keep track of score, outs, etc & his team went undefeated (12-0)!! He said he's retiring @ ripe ol' age o' 7, so wanted to document his participation...He was surprisingly pleased with his title o' "Mr Happy?!" His team was even featured on the screen @ Rainiers game, but mom's sad photog skills failed to clearly capture the shoutout:(
We'll let you know which sport he chooses to try next:)
In the meantime, Dane was proud to get his trophy too--
And I rarely have a post that doesn't feature this handsome spectator...ps pose created completely on his own & actually quite a distance away from rest o' fam?! he's packed quite a bit o' personality in that lil' body!

RAINY DAY REHEARSAL

SUMMER EVENING NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERT (complete with background vocals by Lady herself:)

Who needs the Sun?

Throwin' in all the cliches...Despite the rain on our weekend parade, we didn't let it dampen our mood @ Merwin this past Sat:) We got to spend the night for first time this "summer" although Cole made it clear that he has yet to graduate to spider window bunk--
Not pictured was tasty pancake breakfast...we always manage to eat plenty regardless of the weather:) Still plenty to do with the boys even if mom couldn't lay out and whatever burn rec'd from previous Sat (intentionally spent without a drop of sunscreen on any of us) has officially peeled away-awesome!
Anyway, Luke built a nest
& drank Roarin' Waters by the rapids of the creek below...

Cole bonded with Grandma Neecy while leisurely reading on the paddleboat...Kinda dangerous to bring library book to middle of the lake, but one thing that managed to stay dry during the weekend:)

Older boys overcame disappointment in lack o' beach @ The Point and found equally fun playground in the forest incl new fort design.
Braved the water for a bit courtesy of snorkel gear

Caught another glimpse of resident bald eagle

& loved us some Baby Ben since he might not be around for whole summer.

His Future's So Bright...He's Gotta Wear Shades!

Cabin Sweet Cabin

We made it & so did the 80 degree sunshine!! Despite a quick slip between the boat/dock for Luke (not to fear! life jacket was in full effect as buffer), he thoroughly enjoyed his first trip to Lake Merwin as a two-legged creature...We boated x 3, floated & played in the creek rapids/rocks; also rode in style to/from in grandparents' new suburban. All of the boys became one with the water although notice not one of 'em submerged for long since still beginning o' warm weather including Grandpa who did his typical dive @ end o' day but quickly swam around to ladder & called it good--

Thanks Grandpa Gar & Grandma Neecy for such a beautiful place to go when the sun actually comes out here in the great NoWest:) We loved our day there & look forward to more weekends this summer chillaxin' @ the cabin...

He's Goin' To the Zoo...Zoo...Zoo...

That's the theme song to Cole's concert in preparation for his fieldtrip this week to PDZA. He also worked hard on a report re: African elephant to make it more meaningful. Tonight was somewhat of an adventure in and of itself... to change into baseball uniform in childcare restroom for half of a game in the valley, grab a pinch runner after a base hit then change back into school clothes while driving back up the hill (minus the cool tie-dyed shirt waiting for him to match his classmates) in time for the end-of-the-year concert. He even got to sing a solo!

While the lyrics were lacking a bit, it was fun to see him not only be chosen out of his whole class but also perform with ease and have a variety of interests. Nice that he can be well-rounded but hopefully next season will be more spread out than all in one hour:) Thanks Grandpa Gar for coming out to support him as well...
Celebrated Cole's talents & fact that Mom actually got him to all events on time (quite an accomplishment for her to say the least) afterward @ Coldstone Creamery--The boys wanted to try dad's new fav flavor=Oreo cream filling?!

Sky High...In More Ways Than One

It was such a beautiful Saturday that we played indoors:) Actually we made sure to fit in a picnic, the playground and fun @ Newcastle Beach Park first...

Then we had reservations @ Sky High Sports in Bellevue. Pics aren't that great of the latter, but we had a good time on the wall-to-wall trampolines...

foam pit

& even tried dodgeball--Dane was one o' the last men standing during our round:)

Good workout for all of us! Figured it was only gonna get warmer with summer right around the corner so should check it out now...you'd never know by the clouds today but we can feel it coming any day now!

Memorial Moment

I know the real purpose for which it should considered Memorial, but our weekend as Simon would say, was somewhat forgettable despite the holiday...so wasn't going to post except this picture courtesy of Chris' phone:)
Look quickly & closely 'cuz the sun is out! Couldn't resist cruising to Dash Point after saw break in clouds following movie @ cheap theater in Federal Way; saved us money too 'cuz hard to take boys to restaurant for dinner in their undies:), to which they stripped after playing in the incoming tide!
Cole's antibiotic is finally battling his strep throat!
He got to try out a guy's skim board a few times and still had smile on his face even though he got knocked down, but got up again:) Clearly (as he likes to summarize every paragraph:), he was brave despite the sand & seaweed that accompanied the spills:) Shame on Mom for not being prepared with beach attire no thanks to the weather we've been having in the NoWest?!:)
The rest of us have endured colds, but are grateful for symptoms that didn't worsen thanks to plenty of R&R!

On to celebrating Dzien Dzieci (Kids' Day) 6/1--Boys can't wait to assemble their new shared Lego set & consume doughnuts (chosen treat after baseball games:)...
